The stereo quality is really good. I use these headphones at the gym and don't have to fumble with wires. It answers the phone when a call comes in and goes back to playing music when the call is hung up. I wanted the style over earbuds so I didn't have to worry about them falling out with vigerous activity. I have had them several years now and I am still very pleased.
According to the instructions, the light is supposed to be red, indicating it is charging. Contacts solve this problem. However, I really didn't buy this to use with phone calls and seeing how the microphone needs to be plugged into the mini-USB port, which means I have to carry it around all the time, I'm glad I wasn't planning to use it this way very often.3rd-With my TV. This is where I was slightly disappointed, and thus the lower rating. Then, when it's done, it is supposed to turn blue. Once I got playing my games, the static wasn't as noticeable as my mind was concentrating on what I was playing. As noted above, it synced without problems and sounds great in stereo. I plugged one (headphone) into the AC/DC outlet and then had to plug the other one (Audio Streamer) into the USB on my computer since it only comes with the one AC cable.
I'll explain below why I didn't give it a 5 star review. I got it to sync first to my iMac via bluetooth and it sounded great. I really wanted to be able to use this with any standard television so I can play games or watch TV without bothering my spouse. Go figure.UsesI wanted to use the headphones for several different things.1st-With my computer (2008 Apple iMac). Here's my experience:SellerGreat.
I also did a lot of research regarding this and other wireless headphones. I bought it on Friday and it shipped from NY on Saturday. I haven't taken them to work yet to try, but I'll have to use the Audio Streamer seeing how my Dell PC doesn't have bluetooth, so I'm assuming it will sound the same as when using it with the TV, static and not as clear as when it uses Bluetooth connection.Overall, this works well. The microphone plugs into the mini-USB port (also where the charging happens) and there didn't seem to be any problems with answering calls or sound quality. Worried that it wasn't charging but not having any other option, I left it that way and when I came back several hours later it was a solid blue. Well, that's what the Audio Streamer did, but the headphone was red with an occasional blue flash.
I couldn't get it to work with the Audio Streamer so I gave it up for the night and went to bed. I tried swapping batteries between the two devices, but the headphones continued blinking blue every few seconds. No problems. It also sounds great listening to music. I figured it is sent over Bluetooth technology and would therefore sound exactly the same as when I was listening to my computer. I was really excited that it came with an Audio Streamer allowing it to hook up to pretty much any device. Since then, as I've synced it and used it, there doesn't seem to be a problem, so cross my fingers.SyncingI must admit, it was a little frustrating getting it to sync to the Audio Streamer. I like the design and feel, although when I have my glasses on it starts to pinch behind my ears after a while.
I haven't watched much TV yet with it so I'm not sure if I will be able to ignore it as easily. I think it's a 4.5 star but there isn't intervals. It was really bad at first, but after repositioning the Audio Streamer a little bit, it seemed to be less noticeable. However, the sound isn't very good and there is a constant rhythmic tapping sound which is actually a little bit of static.
There were no problems syncing with my phone. It reminds me of listening to a radio with a not-so-good antennae.4th-With my PC at work. When I go the length of the apartment with two or so walls in between the headphones and the computer, it starts to skip a bit.2nd-With my iPhone 3GS. I'm in Hawaii and it was here by Thursday.Charging the batteriesThe instructions said to charge them for at least two hours before using them. If I move my chair around the cubicle at all, I pull the earbuds out.
When I got up the following morning, I tried the Audio Streamer again, without doing anything else to it, and it worked. I'd say it's about on par with the standard iPod earphones. I get so tired of the cables trying to listen to my computer at work. I would recommend this to anyone looking for wireless headphones.
Even when using the streamer its the same low quality sound but with more range but you will lose the functionality of the bluetooth (pausing, forwarding.etc). This headset has to be the worst I have ever tried I can't believe that people actually give it more than one star. I have been using this for quite a while and can really say that this headset is very low quality in the music department, the sound is too distorted feels like a weak FM signal, and the range when you connect directly to the phone is terrible unless the device is in a certain position it it will skip like crazy its insane it feels like an infrared signal when it gets obscured. when using it to talk to people its great sound is clear and the other party hears you pretty well, but I am sure you could find another headset that can do that.I bought this so I can work out while listing to music from my device but it keeps losing signal and not to mention the low quality sound, I cannot recommend this no matter what its useless as a stereo headset and to expensive to be a normal headset. I tried to see if I can update the firmware but the website does not support this model anymore nad I could not get any help in the matter. Also, it comes in a cheap plastic bag like its used when I gave a negative feed back to the seller he said that they come like this from the manufacturer to be sold cheaper, the seller should have stated that in the description which he failed to so.Again I do not recommend this.
Since I liked the set well enough, I purchased a 2nd X5. All information about this product simply disappeared from their website. BlueAnt no longer sells or supports the X5 or any other stereo headset. After 2 months the headset and the audio streamer no longer recognize each other. My 1st X5 worked well for just over a year, then the audio streamer simply stopped lighting up. Replacing the battery did not solve the problem.I misplaced my receipt, so I was unable to use the warranty. The lights on both devices indicate that they are in pairing mode, but they do not pair. I swapped parts with my older X5, to no avail.I have triggered the warranty and will follow up here with information about how that process goes.
If you want an Audio Streamer this is not the product. streamer dosen't hold charge.
Sometimes it would not work even if taken immediately off the charger including checks to be sure that the battery contaacts on the streamer were clean, dust free & seated properly on the streamer. Pros: - Sound guality for headset is quite good on my Blackberry 8900 - Bluetooth range extends comfortably throughout a rather large home - Headset hold a charge of @ 5 continuous hoursCons: _ The Audio Streamer would barely hold a charge.
Following their instuctions I returned the steamer to Blue Ant and received back what appeared to be the same streamer & battery I sent them with the same results i.e. When it did work the sound quality with my IPod Classic contained so much static as to make it unlistenable after a few minutes. To ensure that it wasn't a bad battery, I switched the batteries between the headset & the streamer with no different results indicating a bad streamer.
I contacted Blue Ant by phone, & followed their recommendations with no results. I've given up on the streamer & just use the headset. If you just want the headset, see if you can buy it standalone.
Their rating would be even lower if the headset didn't work so well.
